TikTok users know the pain of accidentally pressing the wrong button while watching an exciting video on TikTok and losing it. You are probably wondering how to view your watching history and return to your video in such situations. Fortunately, there is a solution!

How to view your watching history on TikTok in the iPhone app.

TikTok does not have a “Watch History” button like other social apps. However, there is a possibility to access your history. You can request your file from TikTok. This file contains information about your TikTok account, such as your bio, comment history, follower list, login history, list of likes, settings, etc. It also contains a list of the videos you have watched, i.e. the Video Browsing History list.

Here’s how to request your TikTok data file to view your watching history:

1. Open the “TikTok” app and go to your profile.

2. Tap the three lines in the upper right corner and then tap “Privacy”.

3. Select “Personalization and data.”

4. Select “Download your data.”

5. Tap the “Request Data” button in the bottom corner.

6. You will receive a confirmation of the data request. Tap the “Download Data” tab to see the status of your request.

Right now it says “Pending,” which means TikTok is processing your request. This usually takes about 24 hours.

7. When the file is ready, select “Download.” You will then be redirected to your browser.

8. Log in to your TikTok account. You may be prompted to confirm this.
9. In the new confirmation pop-up window, select “Download.”
10. The file will download in a zipped format using your default file manager.

If you can’t open the file with your iPhone (no zip installed), you can transfer it to your computer and open it there.

11. When you open the zip file, you will see several .txt files. Open the “Video Browsing History” entry.
12. The list in the file contains the date, time and a link to each video. Use copy/paste to watch any video in your browser.

Note: Your TikTok data file will remain accessible for up to four days. After that, the file will disappear and you will need to make a new request.

Viewing TikTok Watch History in the Android App.

The TikTok Android app is very similar to the iOS version. You will need to request your TikTok data to view your watch history. This process can take up to 24 hours.

To download your TikTok data on Android to view your history:

1. Open the “TikTok” app and go to your profile.

2. Tap on the “three lines” in the upper right corner.

3. Select “Settings & Privacy.”

4. Tap “Privacy.”

5. Select “Personalization & Data.”

6. Select “Download your data”.

7. Tap the “Request data” button.

8. A message will appear indicating that your request has been received

And you can see the current status of the process by tapping the “Download Data” tab. Select “Download” to save your TikTok data once the file is ready.

9. After you have downloaded the file, you can access it under “My Files” or “Files”.

If you are unable to open them on your phone, send them to yourself via email or Wi-Fi LAN and use your computer to access them.

10. The zip file contains several text files. Select “Video Browsing History.”

When you open it, you will see all the videos you have watched with the date, time and a link to each video. Copy the links and paste them into your browser.

How to view your TikTok Watch History on a PC.

Downloading your TikTok data to a PC is probably the easiest way to view your watch history.

Do the following steps to download your TikTok data on Windows, Mac, Linux, Chromebook, etc.

1. Open the browser of your choice and go to TikTok.

2. Tap your “Profile Icon” in the upper right corner and select “Settings”.

3. Select “Data” from the “Privacy” section.

4. Make sure “TXT” is selected in the “Select File Format” section, and then click the “Request Data” button.

5. Click the “Download Data” tab to view the status of your request.

6. When your data is available (be patient), download and unzip it on the same web page.

7. Locate the “View Browsing” text file to see all the videos you’ve watched or partially watched.

With millions of new videos a day, it’s easy to lose track of what’s on TikTok. Although TikTok doesn’t have a “View History” option, there are a few ways to watch your favorite videos again, especially the ones you accidentally missed while watching them.
